“I am drawn to secluded places little touched by time, and I celebrate them in my oil paintings, prints and scratchboard drawings. Brought up in England, I now find myself painting the landscape and weathered buildings of both England and New England – long inhabited landscapes that enshrine memory and suggest story. Winter at a farm in Vermont, and the village of Saugerties, in America; as well as the sheep-filled hills of Wales, and the stony landscape of Cornwall in England, have been the subjects of recent exhibitions. I use words as well as images, to try to invoke a complex yet intimate portrait of place.”
